Frequently Asked Questions for Buyers
1. What is the Deposit/Hold required to join an auction? To participate in an auction, a credit hold is required. This is not a deposit, and no money is transferred from your credit card to us. The hold will be released when:
o You are not the highest bidder on any vehicle. FastLaneAuctions.com will release the hold immediately after the auction closes.
o You are the winning bidder and have completed payment for your vehicle(s). Please note that your bank may take additional time to process the release of the hold.
2. Are these vehicles impounded? Yes, the vehicles being sold are from impound lots. These vehicles are not for highway use and may require repairs to meet emissions or safety standards if you intend to use them on public roads. You acknowledge that you are responsible for towing the vehicle at your own expense and making any necessary repairs, including emissions and safety repairs, to make the vehicle roadworthy.
3. Will I receive a title for the vehicle? Most likely, No. Please check the vehicle description for the "Title Papers" field:
o If it says Yes, you will receive paperwork to apply for a title.
o If it says No, you will not receive a title. Depending on your state, you may need to get a VIN verification from your local police department to apply for a title. Some tow lots may assist with this, but most do not.
4. Can I receive a title for a vehicle with a branded "salvage parts only" status? It may be possible, but you will need to check with your state's requirements for inspection and registration of vehicles with this status.
5. How can I check the title status of a vehicle? The best method is to run a Carfax report, although it is not always guaranteed. In some states, you may be able to check the title status directly, but most states do not allow this for the general public. You can visit Carfax for a report.
6. If I buy a vehicle in one state and plan to title it in a different state, will the DMV issue a title? Before purchasing, contact the DMV in the state where you intend to title the vehicle to confirm if they will accept an out-of-state court order. Be aware that very few states will accept such orders.
7. Can I drive the vehicle off the lot after paying for it? In most cases, No. You will need to check with the impound lot directly. These vehicles are typically not sold for highway use and do not come with a temporary tag. In addition, many states require vehicles to meet emissions standards before they can be legally driven on public roads. If this is the case, it will be your responsibility to get the vehicle into compliance with your state's emission laws.
8. Will the vehicle come with a key? The listing will specify whether the impound lot has a key for the vehicle. Check the "Keys" element in the vehicle description to see if the towing operator has keys for the vehicle.
9. Can I have a key made for the vehicle at the lot? It’s best to check directly with the impound lot. Some lots may allow a locksmith to create a key, while others may have restrictions on what can be done on-site.
10. If the vehicle has a dead battery, will the impound lot jump-start it? You should contact the impound lot directly. Some lots may provide a jump-start free of charge, others may charge a fee, and some may not allow any work to be done on-site.
11. Will the vehicle come with a warranty? No. All vehicles are sold as-is, where-is with no warranty. There will be no refunds for any vehicle purchased.
